NexGen’s summer student program has employed more than 95 students from the local community since 2016.  Each summer, students work alongside the NexGen team and learn vital skills from industry experts while gaining a strong understanding of the long-term career opportunities at the Rook I site.

Established in 2017, this program is delivered in partnership with the Breakfast Club of Canada, and provides meals to 1,025 students daily, while employing eight local cooks.

NexGen creates impactful youth programs that instill self-esteem and confidence and promote health & wellness, including partnerships with the Vancouver Canucks, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Saskatchewan Rush, whereby the Company delivers unique and innovative multi-day mentorship opportunities that support young community leaders in their personal and professional growth by connecting with and learning from players, coaches and staff.

Since 2017, NexGen has awarded 30 scholarships to LPA students in support of their education and career goals.

In partnership with the Meadow Lake Humane Society, NexGen fosters dogs at the Rook I site and supports the La Loche Paw Protection and Buffalo Narrows Animal Shelter. There have been 45 dogs fostered since the program’s inception in 2015.

NexGen is equipping local community members with essential technical and workplace skills for careers in uranium mining, including during the construction and operational phases of the Rook I Project. Since 2023, more than 500 local community members have taken part in NexGen-initiated and funded programs that are equipping them with essential technical and workplace skills.
